At 8 years of age Kim knew she wanted to become a Hairdresser: she made her own business cards on the back of one of her Dad’s cards “Hair Kim Hair” It runs in the blood: Kim’s Great Grandmother was a hairdresser in England. With over 32 years of experience in Hairdressing (shhhh – and still ahead of the pack) and after winning multiple awards, Kim proudly leads and inspires the team and Artistic Direction for Chroma hair Studio.

Kim is also a member of the L’oreal Matrix Australian Design Team and provides education and inspiration for hairdressers across Australia.

Hidden Talent: Athletics champion…crowned King of the mountain (a very long time ago)….and the perfect holiday is Sailing & Swimming around the Mediterranean & Greek Islands.

Goals 2017: Challenge & push myself to be the #1 Educator and grow others by Education & Confidence.

Born in Brisbane and grew up in Dutton Park so George is a local boy through and through. George has owned various businesses from Cafe’s to Award winning restaurants, before beginning to establish Chroma Hair Studio salons in Brisbane with his wife Kim Astro. He brings over 28 years of business experience to the Chroma Hair Studio brand.

Our journey in the hairdressing industry has been amazing and with the recent opening of our 2nd salon on James St, it’s getting even more exciting. l still get a buzz from My wife’s passion for creating amazing new looks and  her dedication to training amazing Stylists. I enjoy the level of professionalism of our staff and seeing the amazing transformations that they achieve on a daily basis.

Born in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand (but we won’t hold that against her)  Kylie has known she wanted to be a hairdresser since she was 6 years old. Kylie has now been a Hairdresser for over 7 years, and recently achieved a Diploma in Colour Mastery.

Kylie has also been part of 2 Annual Global Playground shows with Matrix Design Team and assisted Uros Mikic at “All about the Boys” (Matrix mens cutting course)

Her speciality in hair: Colour and Cutting and her hidden talents are Cooking a New Zealand Roast and amazing scalp massages. The perfect holiday would be Tahiti or Bali- shopping and cocktails. 2017 is about  continuing to grow as a leader and stylist

Carly Pascoe

Born in Yeronga, Brisbane, Carly has been creating amazing hair for 17 years and has been winning awards since winning Apprentice of the year back in 2000, which you can see lined up at the salon.  Carly LOVES Colour – “anything I do I love it all!” She is also very talented – a Killer Saturday tap dance in the staff room is a must. A perfect holiday is Fiji,sun chairs & cocktails. 2017 will be a year of continuing to Evolve skills in the Hair industry.

Mark Mcdonald

Mark brings with him an amazing history of hairdressing talent. He has been applying his skills for 1716 weeks (that’s 33 years-WOW talk about dedication)

There too much to note all of his experience, so here is the short version: Mark began his training @ Sevilles where he quickly won service awards then moved into assistant manager and then store manager roles. He was also the hairdresser for Miss World for 5 years. An Educator and Technical Advisor for Juucie, 0&M and  Revlon. An Educator for Fudge, Pure and Davines and in addition to the usual certificates has an Advanced Trade Mastery Cert in Hairdressing.  

Mark finds his inspiration in hairdressing comes from the Creativity and pure artistry and his speciality in hair is Cutting. His hidden talent? Cutting hair:  “who would have thunk it?”

A perfect holiday would be a long, adventure, with no mobile reception. 2017 is about  providing an amazing experience in customer service to his clients

Susan Hort

Susan has been hairdressing for 6yrs and is already stacking up Awards &  industry Recognition: 2nd place futuristic Colour (BHBE-2015 apprentice),  1st place ladies cutting (BHBE-2016 apprentice), 3rd place futuristic Colour (BHBE-2016 apprentice). Susan has also been busy assisting backstage@ Miss World Australia, Olivia Newton-John foundation Gala, Fashion Aid, the Super Bowl VIP Party Melbourne and  MATRIX Playground 2015/16

What inspires Susan about hairdressing is the ability to “make other people look and feel amazing”. Her speciality in hair is Fashion colours and short ladies cuts

Susan’s secret hidden talent is Photography and the perfect holiday is in Warm weather, Cold drinks, good food, great company. 2017 is about continuing to grow as a stylist and bettering herself.

Domi joined our team early this year and she is already making waves. With nearly 10 years experience Domi is recognised as an External Master Colourist, Showpony Specialist and was recently a Contemporary Colour Finalist. Inspiration for Hairdressing: –  “..creativity and science. I love to be able to change someone’s outlook on themselves and their day by transforming their look.” A specialist in transformations in colour and extensions, Domi also has a Hidden Talent as an Irish dancer from 2 years old to 18 and also played state level soccer. The perfect holiday would be: – Shopping, food, cocktails and party. Amsterdam, Italy, London… all of Europe really. Goals for 2017: – Compete in as many hair competitions as I can and win as many as possible. Continue to push myself and my skills.

Sam has been Hairdressing for nearly 3 years. She enjoys the great learning environment with her teammates and most of all being able to make her clients feel amazing. “Having a client walk out of the salon with a smile on their face and knowing you are the one that put it there is the greatest gift ever!”

This year Sam has been selected to take part in The Rising Star Showcase which will showcase 8 apprentices from salons around Queensland  at the Brisbane Hair and Beauty Expo(BHBE). Sam has also won internal awards like Apprentice Of The Year 2016 and Excellence In Customer Service 2016.

Sam has assisted @ BHBE 2016 and MATRIX Annual Global Playground 2016 with the matrix design team. Sam’s specialities: “Colour and my signature curls!” and her secret hidden talent is that she has an excellent singing voice! (in the shower)

The perfect holiday for Sam is anywhere with snow and cocktails! Goals for 2017: to win a trophy @ BHBE 2017. Assist behind the scenes @ Matrix Playground 2017 and to ace my Concave Bob technique 🙂

Junior Apprentice

Leigh joined our Chroma Team in 2016. She was drawn to hairdressing because she wanted to be able to help people create the style they want and to make them look stunning

Hidden Talent: Did someone say chocolate brownies – OMG she makes the best brownies ever !!! (we regularly do taste testing for quality control purposes of course)

A perfect holiday is Europe at christmas and Leigh’s goal for 2017 is to keep learning heaps and get better at being a hairdresser.

Sammy has been hairdressing for about 1 and a half years. She knew she wanted to be a hairdresser from a young age while watching and helping her mum’s salon. Sammy loves being able to create new trendy styles for clients. Sammy hasn’t won any awards yet but watch this space.

Her main interest in hairdressing is in colouring and her secret Hidden Talent is as a gamer, she can beat her brother and partner in most games on xbox.

A perfect holiday would be relaxing by the beach or pool on a tropical island. Sammy’s goals for 2017 is to continue to improve her skills and knowledge.
